Recently, the Progress Report Meeting of SIMM’s National KeyTechnology R&D Program was held in Li-Yang. This meeting aimed at summarizing the progress of National Key Technology R&D Program undertaken by SIMM, elucidating challenges and objectives, enhancing the management mechanism and facilitating the progress of the Program. Dr. Li-Ping Wang, Director of Division of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Bureau of Biology, CAS, attended the conference together with the institute management team, members of Project Management Office, project leaders in charge of technical platforms, as well as a group of SIMM expertise.

Dr. Li-Ping Wang affirmed SIMM’s achievements since the implementation of National Key Technology R&D Program, and proposed the guidelines towards the keystone of the next stage. Professor Jian Ding, General Director of SIMM, emphasized several key points: firstly, strengthen the sense of urgency and responsibility, motivate ourselves fully to accomplish the tasks of the Program, and deliver effectively research outcomes; secondly, optimize the management mechanism and system, improve the research and production capability for innovative drugs, facilitate the systematic integration, and accelerate the industrial transition progress; thirdly, identify the global new trend and features of innovative drugs research, develop and integrate core technologies into the platform establishment. Professor Jing-Kang Shen presented the guidelines of building up comprehensive platforms and strategic planning of the 12th Five-year Plan. Up to 18 leaders of technical platform units respectively summarized their progress, challenges and plans of the platforms. All attendees of this conference conducted in-depth discussions on how to carry out the work at the next stage.

This conference played an important role in enhancing the communication and integration among all technical platforms and facilitating the implementation and management of National Key Technology R&D Program. This conference led all participants to further specify the responsibilities and up-to-date work plans for achieving the objectives of the Program, identify the existing challenges, exchange the experience and make a common view to actively prepare for the further work of the Program at the next stage.
