With the rapid development of bio-pharmaceutical industry, Center for Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Research, Shanghai institute of Materia Medica (SIMM)set up a biological-sample-analysis discussion group with the well-known pharmaceutical and CRO companies surrounding Zhangjiang Hi-Tech park, providing a platform for academic communications on biological sample analysis. The group invited senior scholars to conduct academic discussions on the new trends of FDA regulations, existing problems and countermeasures, as well as LC/MS/MS analysis trends.
Dr. Jing Tao Wu, head of biological-sample-analysis department of Millennium PharmaceuticalsInc., introduced the latest technologies in biological-sample-analysis such as Ambient MS, Dry blood spot, DART, and the MALDI MS-based Imaging Mass Spectrometry etc. The application of these advanced technologies expands the research area of drug metabolism. Dr. Nai Dong Wen, head of biological-sample-analysis department of Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals Inc., presented how to optimize chromatograhic conditions to speed up the biological sample analysis with highlighting the experience in chromatographic column selection. Dr. Zhong Ping Lin, the vice president of U.S. Frontage Inc., used some specific cases to introduce the transfer of biological-sample-analysis methods among different laboratories and different regions in accordance with FDA regulatory requirements.
The seminar attracted participants from a number of pharmaceutical companies and research institutions such as GSK, Roche, Covance, Fonda, HRH, Hutchison Whampoa, and Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. The 3-hour seminar with excellent reports and passionate atmosphere of academic communications demonstrated the latest research trends of biological sample analysis.
