Professor GUO Yue-Wei of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was recently awarded “Paul-Scheuer-Award”. Prof. Guo was invited to receive the Prize at the awarding ceremony on June 12, 2010 in Erfurt, Germany.
“Paul-Scheuer-Award” was established and issued, in honor of Professor Paul J. Scheuer from Hawaii University, US, the “farther of marine natural products chemistry”, by the esteemed and one of the oldest German academic agencies—Academy of the Arts and Sciences Useful to the Public in Erfurt (1754), aiming at awarding the outstanding scientists in the field of Marine Natural Products and Marine Biotechnology. Prof. Guo is not only the first Chinese scientist but also the first Asian scientist to be awarded this very prestigious prize.
