On April 16-19, the 11th Annual Oxford International Conference on the Science of Botanicals (ICSB 2012) is held at the University of Mississippi, Oxford, USA.Since 2007, Shanghai Institute of MateriaMedica (SIMM), CAS, has been one of the co-sponsors for this conference.
For ICSB 2012, Professor YueJianMin, Director of Natural Products Chemistry Department of SIMM, is invited by the conference Organizing Committee to give a presentation on “Natural Products(TCM) as Sources of Bioactive/and Lead Compounds”. The presentation gets high attention from the attendees and leads to more scientific exchanges.
Background:
ICSB 2012 is supported by a cooperative agreement between the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) and the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and is co-sponsored by SIMM/CAS; the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR - India); the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka; the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP); the Society for Medicinal Plant Research (GA); and the Korean Society of Pharmacognosy.
ICSB 2012 is focusing on the last decade’s progress in the botanical research and development, as well as regulatory and clinical aspects. Topic areas include authentication of botanical identity, cultivation, collection, and post-harvest practices for producing quality plant materials as well as an exploration of chemical and toxicological methods regarding botanical quality/safety assessments.
