SIMM-UCB Joint Program of Computational Biology Launched

The opening ceremony of Shanghai Institute of Meteria Medica-UCB Pharma (SIMM-UCB) joint program was held on November 06, 2012 at SIMM. The program focuses on the development of novel computational techniques and their application in biological systems. Dr. Phil Goliber, Vice President (Strategy and Portfolio), Dr. Duncan McHale, Vice President (Global Exploratory Development), and Dr. Jiye Shi, Director of Computational Structural Biology of UCB Pharma, Professor JIANG Hualiang, Deputy Director of SIMM, and Professor ZHU Weiliang, Director of Drug Discovery and Design Center, and a number of program members and staff attended the ceremony.
Professor JIANG Hualiang made a welcoming address. He emphasized that SIMM has a long and strong tradition of close collaboration with domestic and international pharmaceutical companies and other organizations, and the SIMM-UCB collaboration has huge potential win-win opportunities for both parties. Dr. Jiye Shi briefly introduced the research plan of SIMM-UCB joint program. Prof. ZHU Weiliang presented the research progress. After that, he introduced the history, development, and current research areas of SIMM to the distinguished guests from UCB Pharma.
Both parties remain optimistic to the prospect of SIMM-UCB joint program and agree that there could be opportunities for further and deeper collaboration between SIMM and UCB.
