On the occasion of "Member Day of Chinese Association for Science and Technology", Chinese Association for Science and Technology recognized the 5th "Countrywide Outstanding Scientists" on December 14 at Beijing. These scientists were conferred honorable titles, certificates and medals of honor. The director of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Academician Ding Jian, and the director of the National Center for Drug Screening / the Chinese National Compound Library, Wang Mingwei were among these scientists.

The activity of recommendation and election for "Countrywide Outstanding Scientists" were held every two years. It is aimed at awarding the outstanding scientists of our country who are engaged in the research and development, popularization and promotion, training scientific and technological personnel, boosting the combination of science and economy in science, technology, engineering and other relevant fields.
