On March 18^th, 2015, Mr. QIN Huaijin，the director of Science and Education Division of National Health and Family Planning Commission (NFHPC) of PRC, as well as the head of the execution management office of "Major Drug Innovation" National Special Major Science and Technology Project, paid a special visit to Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM).

The main purpose of delegation is to be an “audience", Director QIN said, “Listening to the voices and suggestions from scientists is very important and helpful for better organization and administration of the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" of Science, especially the national plan of drug innovation for the next five years.”

Prof. GENG Meiyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of SIMM, warmly welcomed the delegation and gave a brief introduction of SIMM to them, including SIMM’s history, research focus, drug development and domestic and international cooperation. A detailed suggestion presentation was delivered by Prof. GENG later, inspiring the deep thinking of the delegation. Prof. GENG also expressed the appreciation for the consisting support from “Major drug innovation” project over the past decade, which contributed a lot to the development of drug innovation for the whole country, including SIMM.

Afterwards, the attendees shared some suggestions and advices on the organization and administration of the national projects, which triggered hot discussion. Officials from NFHPC thought the suggestions were very helpful to enhance and improve the national plans.

On behalf of SIMM, Academician CHEN Kaixian, Deputy Secretary LI Jun, Deputy Director LI Jia, and some researchers and staffs also attended the meeting.

 After the meeting, Director QIN visited the National Compound Library.
