On September 1, 2016, Dr. Richard A. Lerner, academician of American National Academy of Sciences, former president of the Scripps Research Institute, founding director of Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS), Shanghai Tech University, visited SIMM. He was accompanied by Dr. YANG Guang, deputy director of SIAIS, and Dr. ZHANG Hongkai, professor in the department of biochemistry and molecular biology, College of Life Science, Nankai University.  

Dr. JIANG Hualiang and Dr. LI Jia, director general and deputy director general of SIMM, co-hosted the reception.  

The participants discussed the potential cooperation projects between SIAIS and SIMM in the fields such as screening venom peptides targeting ion channels, to boost the mutual development. 

Afterwards, Dr. Richard A. Lerner visited the SIMM laboratories, including Center for Structure and Function of Drug Target, and Center for Drug Safety Evaluation and Research.
