Three research institutes on medicine, brain science and infectious disease immunity, jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai government, were unveiled yesterday, the local branch of the academy announced.
District governments of Songjiang and Fengxian, where the brain science and infectious disease immunity research centers are located, also signed agreements with related CAS departments.
The medicine laboratory in Zhangjiang aims to develop original drugs and make them affordable, effective and with fewer side effects. The G60 brain intelligence scientific and innovative research base will conduct research and development on key technologies of the treatment on critical brain diseases on the foundation of monkey cloning.
YING Yong, the mayor of Shanghai, said bioscience is an important frontier and the three institutes will further the power of high-end innovation on the city’s development of bioscience. (SHINE)
