Upon the invitation from Professor Ao Zhang, Professor Huang Zhen, the Chairman of Chinese-American Chemistry Professor Association (CAPA), from the Chemistry School of the Georgia State University paid a visit to our institute for academic communications this February and delivered a lecture titled Chemistry & Structural Biology of Selenium Nucleic Acids (SeNA) for Drug Discovery and Target Identification. The lecture focused on the progress and difficulties in the research of the physiological action of nucleic acid and nucleic acid chemistry, also it introduced the breakthroughs made by his team in recent years in the crystallization and imaging of the nucleic acid by introducing the selenium atoms, as well as breakthroughs in the research on the spatial structure and drug development. During and after the lecture, Professor Zhen and attendees had discussions on the prospect of the nucleic acid chemistry and some frontier issues.
