Since the 2003 outbreak of the SARS virus, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica" (SIMM) has been closely collaborating with Professor Rolf Hilgenfeld, Director of the Institute of Biochemistry of Lübeck University in the field of drug research. Within this collaboration, a number of joint publications appeared over the past few years, and more is to follow, as Professor Hilgenfeld is now also a CAS Visiting Professor at SIMM for 6 months. The collaboration has now been placed on a formal basis:
On Friday, 5th November, Professor Peter Dominiak, President of University of Lübeck, paid a visit to SIMM and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SIMM that expands the cooperation between the two institutions. Thus, SIMM will have a close collaboration with the Graduate School "Computing in Medicine and Life Sciences” of Lübeck University.
Professor Hualiang Jiang, Deputy Director of SIMM, is delighted that young researchers of SIMM will be able to carry out part of their PhD research work in "the beautiful old Hanseatic town". And Professor Dominiak is convinced that "this collaboration will significantly promote the internationalization of Luebeck University".
