On January 22, at the invitation of associate Prof. YI Wei, Prof. LI Xingwei from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics(DICP)paid a visit to Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica(SIMM)and delivered the lecture titled "Rh and Ir in C-H Activation Reactions: from Stoichiometric to Catalytic Systems". More than 40 researchers of SIMM participated in the event
Prof. LI Xingwei presented the recent achievements from his research group on the studies around the metal-catalyzed functionalization by C-H activation. He described the new hydrocarbon activation methods catalyzed by Rh and Ir, and applied to the synthesis of a series of complex heterocyclic compounds in his research group. The report was impressive and attracted great attention of the professors and students of SIMM. Especially when the metal-catalyzed reaction mechanism vivid explained by Prof. Li, a hot discussion caused.Prof.
Li got his Ph. D. degree in Yale University, and then worked at the California Institute of Technology, Nanyang Technological University and Scrips Research Institute. In 2010, he join DICP. From now, he has published more than 80 papers (cited more than 3200 times) on J. Am. Chem. Soc.; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and other academic journals.
