Dr. Howard Alper, former chairman of Canada Royal Society of Chemistry, chairman of Technology and Innovation Council (STIC) of Canada’s Government, and professor of the University of Ottawa, at the invitation of Dr. Ming-Wei Wang., delivered a lecture titled“Science,Technology and Innovation Policy:Suggestions and Standards for Shaping the Nation’s Future” in the afternoon of May 18 at 2015 Shanghai Science and Technology Festival. The event was organized by Shanghai Pudong Engineers’ Association, Shanghai Institute of MateriaMedica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the National Center for Drug Screening (NCDS) and the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL). Prof. Alper’s lecture was followed by a concert named “We and Tango”, which performed by a young-artists band “Take Five Quintet” from Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The performance was enthusiastically reacted by the audience.
Prior to the event, Prof. Alper visited SIMM, NCDS and CNCL and was warmly greeted by Prof. Jiang Hualiang (director general of SIMM), Ye Yang (deputy director of SIMM), Li Jia (deputy director of SIMM), Wang Ming-Wei (director of NCDS and CNCL), Xie Xin (deputy director of NCDS) and Yang Huaiyu. He also candidly chatted with staff scientists and graduate students.
