In March 2007, SIMM signed an agreement with AstraZeneca to set up an alliance project in drug safety evaluation. Both parties worked together on facility construction, personnel training, and management overhaul in accordance with GLP guidelines. The center has since received accreditation from the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) for animal care and welfare, accreditation for compliance with OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) GLP guidelines and the re-inspection. Moreover, the center successfully passed study-based inspection by British Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
