  The Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica is a senior member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a mission to provide comprehensive solutions to drug discovery and development. As part of an exciting new alliance with AstraZeneca, a major international pharmaceutical company, we would like to invite you to join our open, friendly and supportive team based in a new purpose built facility located in Shanghai. 

  You will be responsible for the health and welfare of animals in SIMM’s new safety evaluation facilities. You will be working in a GLP environment, developing an AAALAC accredited program and will have the opportunity to receive professional training in AstraZeneca’s own research and development facilities in Europe. As well as fulfilling professional and legal responsibilities you will influence the development of international best practice in laboratory animal welfare whilst supporting excellent safety evaluation science. This is a key role with an influential remit supporting regulatory toxicology studies as part of the development of important new medicines.

  You should have significant experience as a veterinary clinician with a veterinary degree (e.g. DVM or equivalent professional qualifications') and ideally a post-graduate qualification in laboratory animal medicine or science . You will have experience of providing clinical services including surgery and preventative health programs, demonstrate leadership and a commitment to animal care standards within a regulatory environment. You should also have excellent analytical thinking, communication and organizational skills. You should be able speak fluent English to a high standard and have a knowledge of Chinese.
