The Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica is a senior member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a mission to provide comprehensive solutions to drug discovery and development. As part of an exciting new alliance with AstraZeneca, a major international pharmaceutical company, we would like to invite you to join our open, friendly and supportive team based in a new purpose built facility located in Shanghai.

　　You will be working in a GLP environment and will have the opportunity to receive professional training in AstraZeneca’s own research and development facilities in Europe.

　　You will ensure we have the right level of pathological input to the safety evaluation teams. You will provide expert understanding of disease processes in animals and man and design appropriate studies to address toxicological pathology problems such as organ, or tissue-specific, drug induced pathology. You will evaluate, interpret and provide concise written reports on gross pathology and histopathological findings and provide expert pathology consultation supporting toxicology studies.  

　　You should have significant experience in toxicological pathology and possess a Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent professional qualification, or PhD in Pathology. Board Certification would be an asset with papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals. 

　　We need someone who is adept at working within a team environment, has high self confidence, a high scientific and technical ability and a concern for standards. You should have excellent analytical thinking and high standards of organizational and diagnostic skills. You should be able speak English to a high standard, and have a knowledge of Chinese and perhaps have a specialist area of pathology interest and knowledge.
