SIMM held a specialized training session on thesis writing

To effectively enhance the academic research and thesis writing capabilities of international students at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM) and support them in completing their studies with high quality, the Graduate Education Office of SIMM held a specialized training session on thesis writing for international students on the afternoon of January 14, 2026. The session focused on the entire thesis writing process, providing guidance to 18 international students through experience sharing and policy interpretation.

The event began with an opening speech by He Min, Director of the Graduate Education Office, who emphasized that this English-language thesis training session is one of SIMM’s key initiatives to deepen its academic support system for international students, aiming to help them better understand the critical processes and standards for degree applications and thesis writing.

Samuel GUMA, an excellent graduate student shared detailed experiences based on his own doctoral thesis writing. He covered specific aspects such as overall thesis structure design, table of contents arrangement, detailed description of experimental methods, data presentation and analysis, and standardized citation of references. He also meticulously analyzed common oversights and error-prone details in writing, providing valuable firsthand "hands-on" experience for the attending international students.

Wang Hui, Deputy Director of the Graduate Education Office, systematically introduced the process management requirements for international students applying for graduation and degrees. She clearly outlined key timelines, specific standards for document submissions, review procedures, and important considerations, reminding students to plan ahead to ensure smooth progress at every stage.

During the interactive Q&A session, international students actively raised questions about specific issues in thesis writing and submission, fostering a lively atmosphere of discussion. The Graduate Education Office will continue to pay close attention to the academic development needs of international students, offering diversified and targeted academic sharing activities to provide guidance and support throughout their graduation, fully safeguarding their academic path and supporting them in completing their studies at SIMM.
