报告题目:   Frontiers of Orbitrap mass spectrometry 

报告人：Dr. Alexander Makarov  

        Director of global research life sciences mass spectrometry (Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.) 

  is a Russian physicist who invented the revolutionary Orbitrap mass spectrometer. Orbitrap-based mass spectrometers offer performance that was previously only available from larger, more expensive, difficult-to-operate and less reliable Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometers, enabling more widespread use of ultra-high resolution and high mass accuracy instrumentation. Only six years after commercial introduction, Orbitrap has quickly become an essential tool in many fields worldwide, and have enabled fundamental breakthroughs in proteomics, life science and drug discovery. Dr. Makarov has authored more than 40 papers and holds more than 50 patents worldwide. In recognition of his achievements, Dr. Makarov has received numerous awards, including the Heinrich-Emmanuel Merck Award (2007), Award for Distinguished Contribution in Mass Spectrometry of ASMS (2008), Gold Award of the Russian Society for Mass Spectrometry (2007), Curt Brunnee Research Award (2009), Science and Technology Award of the Human Proteome Organization (2011) and others.
