On June 4th, a delegation headed by Dr. Joseph Smith (Vice President, Corporate Office of Science & Technology, COSAT) and Dr. Mingde Xia (Senior Director, Corporate Office of Science & Technology) paid a visit to Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), CAS. Prof. Yang Ye, the deputy director of SIMM warmly welcome the visitors and gave an overall introduction of SIMM. Dr. Joseph Smith also gave a brief introduction of COSAT including its vision, mission and major business focus. Both sides held a constructive discussion on the potential cooperation. Since COSAT is endeavored to foster J & J 's long-standing focus on innovation and entrepreneurship through identifying and nurturing emerging technologies related to health care, Dr. Joseph Smith suggested that SIMM could submit proposals on COSAT website or set up co-managed fund with JNJ to support early stage drug R&D.
