In order to promote the standardization of TCM industry, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine launched a national project of "TCM Standardization Action". Considering the leading role of our "National Engineering Laboratory for TCM Standardization Technology" in international research and recognition of TCM standards, in early 2016, the NDRC officially approved the establishment of the “National Third-Part Testing Center (Southern) for TCM Quality”, with the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences as technical supporting unit. The third-part testing center for TCM quality with an independent legal entity carries out testings of high-quality TCM seeds and seedlings, TCM materials, TCM slices and Chinese patent medicines, provides technical services of TCM quality evaluation for the country and the industry, aiming to improve technical service systems, long-term mechanisms and high quality of TCM standardization technology and products in China.
