Center for Small-Molecule Drug Research specializes in discovery and development of small-molecule chemical entities. The main research interests include design and synthesis of bioactive compounds, structural optimization of lead compounds, synthesis of biologically active natural products, new methodologies for drug synthesis, etc.. The center gives high priority to discovery and development of new drugs for tumors, bacterial and viral infections, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, central nervous system disorders and autoimmune disease. So far, the center has been working closely with relevant experts, especially pharmacologists, and successfully developed several new chemical entities, as well as a batch of drug candidates, some of which are now undergoing clinical trials.
