With features of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary studies, Department of Pharmacology II is one of the leading research units in neuropharmacology.

The department specializes in development and research of nervous system drugs with independent intellectual property rights (IPRs). The focus is on the major diseases in nervous system which are common in China, including Alzheimer's dementia (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), schizophrenia, stroke, and drug addiction. It conducts also systematic preclinical evaluation of therapeutic agents for nervous system diseases with in-depth understanding of mechanisms of action and application of a variety of animal models.
