Dr. WU Wanying is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. She took postgraduate training at Beijing University of Chinese Medicineand received the Ph.D. degree in 2002. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Peking University, she joined the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica and was later promoted to associate professor and professor. Dr. Wu joined the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) as a visiting Scientist in 2013 and took part in the establishment of the Herbal medicine Compendium. Dr. Wu’ current research interests are mainly in systematic analysis of TCM complex system. She has conducted eleven projects as PI and participated in more than 20 projects as a co-investigator including those from National S&T Major Special Project, The Ministry of Science and Technology International Cooperation, and National Natural Science Foundation. She has published 114 papers in renowned international and national journals including J Chromatogr A., Anal Chim Acta., Anal Bioanal Chem.etc, and she is the editor of six academic monographs. In addition, she has applied for 19 items of domestic invention patents. Among them, 14 items had been authorized. As a major performer, She has established 32 TCM standards that have been accepted by U.S. Pharmacopeia or European Pharmacopoeia. Another major finding is that She developed an innovative TCM prescription named “Dan Qi Tong Mai Tablet” that had been approved by SFDA for clinical trial in 2009 in China. She won several awards including the Second Prize for The State Natural Science in 2012 (The third one), the First Prize for Science and technology of China Association of Chinese Medicine in 2015 (The Second one), the Second Prize for The National Science and Technology Progress in 2016 (The third one), the March-Eighth Red-Banner Pacesetter of Shanghai science and technology system in 2013, and the March-Eighth Red-Banner Pacesetter of Shanghai in 2017.
